Mom of the Year

First let me start by explaining the title....Mr. TJ Thorp calls me this when I make a parenting mistake, which tends to happen to all of us. Pam and TJ just had their first baby so he will soon realize how easy it is to screw up our children. Soon I will have a t-shirt made just for grins.

So, here is my first entry for 'Mom of the Year'.

I want to start by saying that Madalyn is almost 7 going on 16. She has an attitude and a mouth...it can be very frustrating at times. We have tried it all...spankings, grounding, taking everything away, and nothing seems to get it through her head. We have been running out of ways to get our point through to her that we aren't going to take it anymore. SO............my niece had her tonsils taken out last week and I saw an opportunity to scare Madalyn. I know, bad idea but it worked for Madalyn. I told her that Averi had her tonsils taken out because she talked ugly to her parents too much. Since tonsils are in your throat this made total since to Madalyn and she has been really good about her attitude since our talk.

Well, today at school they just so happen to be talking about getting their tonsils out or knowing someone who got their tonsils taken out AND Madalyn proceeds to raise her hand and tell everyone our 'little white lie'. Madalyn's teacher was quick to point out that talking back is not why we get our tonsils taken out. Now Madalyn wants me to call her teacher and tell her 'the truth' about Averi.

OMG....what have I done? I couldn't help but laugh hysterically about this and you know, it is still working.

But Madalyn was THE sweetest, most polite student in my class last year! Seriously. =)

That is AWESOME! I'll have to use that line on Stevie!

It's a phase Stace... Stevie will be 7 on the 17th of this month and HOLY MOLY... This child has a mouth on her that I just wanna knock off sometimes. Let's hope they move on FAST!

Love it! Maybe I shouldn't, but I use these types of scare tactics with Gracie. So, I agree with Blair and Kristen :)
