A Beautiful Blogger

Candie passed this along to me and I am happy to say that I have gotten to know her better by reading her journey through life. Thank you for letting me be part of it.

I'm supposed to share 7 things about myself (that you may or may not know) and then pass the award to 7 other beautiful bloggers. I'm more excited about sharing the award than I am thinking of 7 things that I haven't shared!

1. I am a little OCD...obsessive compulsive. Yes, I am organized and clean. It all started when I was pregnant with Weston.

2. I do not like for windshield wipers to be on longer than they need be. It drives me crazy to hear that squeeking noise.

3. I do NOT like coffee. I LOVE hot tea. I drink it at least once a day but sometimes more.

4. I read whenever I get a chance. My favorite book is and always will be Matilda. I have even saved my original copy to give to Madalyn one day.

5. I have scoliosis. Even though I have had the corrective surgeries, I will always have this disease and likely have passed it on to my kids, which is really hard for me to accept.

6. I LOVE to hunt. Really love it. I hunt, gut, and bring in my own deer. The call of the wild just gets to me.

7. I have been with the love of my life for over 13 years now and I am only 28. It is a beautiful thing.

What a Beautiful Life! The last 10 years

2000 - I was entering my second semester of my first year at Texas Tech University. I enjoyed living in the dorm but also spending a majority of my time at David's house. We were together at last. In February David bought me my first pet, a black lab we named Millenium (Millie for short. She was born on December 31, 1999.

During the summer I decided to switch my major from elementary education to Interior Design. I loved it. It came naturally.

Unfortunately, this was also the year I had my second reconstructive back surgery. While at the 'quack shack' on campus I had them X-Ray my back after taking a horrible fall while playing intermural basketball earlier in the year. I was having some irregular pain but nothing too bad. I wasn't worried but wanted to be sure everything was okay. That fall had caused my stainless steel rod to break in half and all the fusions holding my spine together has shattered. They scheduled my surgery for Christmas break so I could return to school for the Spring Semester. Because of the recovery time I was only able to attend one class that semester.

2001 - David proposed at the end of May with a gorgeous ring that we had designed together. It is very special to me and a one of a kind. We planned to get married in September of the same year.

David also graduated in May from Texas Tech University. They offered him a graduate position but he decided he wanted to start his life.

We moved to San Antonio in August and bought our first house together. It was a cute little home and was perfect for the two of us.

I remember September 11 like it was yesterday. David called from work and told me to turn on the TV. It was devistating. We were to be married in just 11 days on September 22. I just couldn't believe my eyes.

We were happily married and traveled to Cancun for our honeymoon.

I also started my real estate courses and had my license by the end of the year. I began my career with Century 21 Action Realty.

In December I was scheduled for another back surgery to remove a portion of the rod that had come loose from the upper part of my spine. That was a much smoother recovery.

2002 - In early March we found out we were expecting our first child. Shocking but a blessing. I didn't do much real estate because I was so sick. We decided it might be best for me to take a job to have a steady income. I began working for the real estate company full time in June.

The company I was working for went through a huge merger and I was moved up to the newly formed corporate office.

On November 6 Madalyn Ann Fisher arrived in our world after 18 hours of labor and then an emergency c-section. What a wonderful little baby! She was gorgeous. We went home 3 days later only for Mommy to go back to the hospital 2 days after that. Gran (Linda) had her hands full taking care of a newborn full time while I was recovering from a severe infection for 5 days. I was so weak and sick that David had to take care of me at the hospital plus I had to have surgery to clean out the infection and remove my appendix (they did this just to be rid of it).

2003 - Our first year as a family. It was wonderful and difficult learning a new routine. David worked long hours which was hard but we managed well.

I was promoted to Relocation Director of 10 offices in the San Antonio area and LOVED it.

Shortly after my promotion one of our agents went on a shooting rampage at the office I had originally worked for when I started my career. He killed 2 people and seriously injured another before he killed himself. It was one of the most horrible things I have ever experienced. This agent was my mentor when I first started my career and was one of the kindest people I knew. It was shocking to say the least.

David decided to start his own business, Sierra Verde Horticulture. I am very proud of him for making such a difficult decision. He was happier for it and I was happy for him. He works very hard and always has.

2004 - In May I decided to jump back into sales and transferred my license to Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors. The best move I ever made. I was so happy to be working for such an amazing broker.

We also sold our first home and purchased our second house out in the country. The commute was terrible but the peaceful nights were great. We lived about 3 miles from the Guadalupe River which made for enjoyable springs and summers.

2005 - Not much happened this year. David's business was going great and my business went through the roof. Madalyn was growing like a weed and we were happy.

We purchased our first investment property. Scary but it worked out well. Not sure how much I like renters now but it was a good experience for both of us.

2006 - Business as usual until we found out were were pregnant with baby #2. It took about 6 months to conceive and then when we did all I did was cry. I was so scared. Then I got really sick again but worse.

After the sickness went away then excitement set in about our new baby. We didn't have a preference on boy or girl. Madalyn was such a blessing that we would have been grateful for either gender. In November we found out we were expecting a baby boy. Shocked, but very happy. One of each....

In September we also celebrated 5 years of marriage. David surprised me with a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Fleming (which I ended up throwing up my very expense lobster in the bathroom due to little baby Fisher) and spent the night on the Riverwalk.

2007 - We spent the early part of this year preparing for the arrival of Weston Keyes Fisher and saying good-bye to Robert (Bobby) Weston Doran. He was a very special man and where Weston's first name was taken from. Keyes was Randee Fawcett's son that had passed away in a car accident at an early age. We are very proud of this strong name for our handsome boy.

Weston was born on March 30 and we became a family of 4. Life was good!!!

David and I made the big decision to move back to Sonora. His plans of becoming a rancher prompted us to move back so he could learn move from his father, the best rancher we know.

We put our house on the market and waited. While waiting we decided to take a trip to Mexico with Josh and Erin Burnham in September. After planning and paying for the trip our house went under contract and was scheduled to close 4 days after coming back from our trip. We did it anyways.

Thankfully Pam Thorp and Ben Taylor came to help use pack up and move out. It was really hard work but the 4 of us had fun.

Just before arriving in Sonora Randee offered to let us stay in the original ranch house built by David's great-grandparents until we could find a place to purchase. We love this home. It is amazing. So we settled in for our new life.

In November Madalyn celebrated her 5th birthday. Oh my, this girl is getting too big. It was a great day with family and friends.

2008 - Things were going nicely in Sonora. We loved living at the ranch and so did the kids.

I opened up my own real estate firm in Sonora named Rio Diablo Realty. I worked had was able to get my broker's license in just a few months.

Weston celebrated his first birthday in March. A sad and happy occassion. My last baby was growing up too quick.

Madalyn started kindergarten in August. I still can't believe it has been so long since we welcomed her into our world. She is truly amazing and we are blessed.

2009 - We decided that we wanted to make this old house our home. We approached Randee about staying in the home and she was pleased we wanted to watch our family grow in this home like many generations before us.

In May I had my hysterectomy and it has been wonderful. I know that I was young but it needed to happen due to all the problems I had after giving birth to Madalyn. I love 'the change' better than what I used to go through each month.

This year Randee also started getting sick. She battled diabetes her whole life but it was now hurting the rest of her body. She is the strongest woman I have ever known, I truly mean that with all my heart. She had the hardest life of any person I have ever known and still got up each morning.

In September she celebrated her last birthday with us at the Fisher's home. We had invited Claire Jones and Virgil and Linda Burge. We special order a chihuahua decorated sugar free cake. David cooked lamb chops and we enjoyed ourselves.

Randee passed away at the end of September after a long battle with diabetes. She is truly loved and will never be forgotten.

***I still can't believe we have said good-bye to another decade. David and I have now been married 8 years and together for 13 years. I love him and the 2 amazing children we have had together. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life loving him and my family.

A Week in Ruidoso

A few years ago the Fishers purchased a house in Ruidoso and this year we were fortunate enough to all spend December 28 thru January 1 in their home. It was Gran, Grandfather, Tammy, and the 4 of us...and a whole lotta fun. We had a blast.
They couldn't have picked a better time to be in Ruidoso. It snowed the whole time we were there which is unusual this time of year, especially in town. David, Madalyn, Tammy and I were able to ski one day and really enjoy ourselves. Madalyn and I are both learning.
Check out my pics from the trip.
