Devil's River = Super Fun

Each year we attempt to travel to the Devil's River...the state of Texas has called it the cleanest river. It is gorgeous. It takes us 3 hours to get there but well worth the drive. We drive for an hour and a half on the highway between Comstock and Sonora and then over an hour on a caliche ranch road for 15 miles. Once again, worth it. We really camp when we are down there. Luckily we have electricity now but we don't have running water. We bathe in the river and love every minute of it. We cook wonderful camp food and eat S'mores at night. We had a great time this weekend and we were fortunate enough to spend it with the Davenports, Papa J, Grannie Kay, Jed, Amy, Mattye, Hayden, and Nicole.
Each time I open this gate I crack up at these shoes. Yes, one on each post. I call it "One Lost Sole".

The terrain we travel through to get to this heavenly place.

Amy Davenport and her kids, Mattye and Hayden, going on a float with me and Madalyn

What a beauty...we think this is the most beautiful part of the river.

A little waterfall running into the river.

Three Tier Falls, so much fun to tube down.

My boys exploring the rapids at Three Tier.

Madalyn splashing around in the water.

Weston trying to give me a kiss. Look at those lips.

Hayden and Madalyn being goofy on the way to the rapids.

Headed out and we are exhausted.

What a great get-away! Reminds me of being that age and spending countless weekends at the Devil's River too...lots of good memories!
