Our first, of what I assuming will be many, stitches. We have a child with NO FEAR, absolutely none. He will do, try and attempt anything. It is very scary, especially since our other child fears everything.
We traveled to the Frio River this weekend with the Thorps, Wallaces and Brooks' for a little family fun time. Friday we were all playing in the pool when Weston took a tumble. He tripped in the shallow end of the pool and knocked his head right on the flagstone edging. The before pictures are too graphic but the gash was 2.5 cm by 1 cm and clear to the skull. It was awful!!!!
David and I dried off, dressed and took him to the Uvalde ER for what we knew would need stitches. Weston hates the hospital so there was lots of screaming and negotiating to go home but he needed medical care.
The more traumatic part was that David and I, along with a nurse, had to hold him down while they gave him the numbing shot and stitches. I cried the whole time. It hurt my heart as Weston would say. As soon as we let go he stopped crying immediately and was ready for the snow cone we had promised him.
He is now doing great and proud to show his 4 stitches off to whoever would like to look but we still haven't told him they have to come out. That will be a whole other story.
